President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria has made a history visit to Mauritania on Monday December 09.
The Strategic visit first of its kind since 37 years of diplomatic trips by leaderships to Mauritania will see him attending an international conference on Tuesday December 10.
Days after Burundi’s tax body reported a revenue shortfall over the last four months, the country’s leadership on Monday December 09 fired the finance minister Audace Niyonzima.
Without giving reasons to his dismissal, President Ndaiyishimiye in a decree appointed Nestor Ntahontuye to take up the role as new Finance Minister.
According to Burundi’s Revenue Authority, it failed to reach revenue targets by over 110 billion Burundian francs amidst fuel shortages and a scarcity of foreign currency in the country.
However, Niyonzima had warned that the deficit could affect the government’s ability to execute its annual budget if not reversed.
The new Finance Minister who has previously held roles in planning, monitoring and evaluation in various organizations in the country holds adegree in statistical engineering, specializing in the monitoring and evaluation of projects and programs.
He was as well the chairperson of the Finance Committee at the National Assembly of Burundi
