THE HEAD OF SUDAN’S PARAMILITARY GROUP,RSF, HAMDAN DAGALO HAS BLAMED EGYPT FOR AN ATTACK ON ITS GROUP’S TROOPS, ACCUSATIONS CAIRO’S FOREIGN MINISTRY HAS DENIED.
He was speaking in a video recorded speech on Wednesday.
The leader of the Sudanese paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, equally called Hemedti, accused Egypt of being involved in airstrikes on the group’s troops, according to a recorded speech on Wednesday.
He says Cairo has been training and providing drones to the country’s army under the Sudanese Armed Forces, which has recently gained an upper hand in the conflict that has ravaged the country since April 15, 2023. In his recorded video message, Hemedti said Egypt used U.S. bombs in its strikes.
In response, the Egyptian foreign ministry issued a statement in which it denied Hemedti’s accusations regarding the participation of Egyptian aviation in the ongoing war in Sudan, calling on the international community to ascertain the evidence that proves the truth of what the RSF militia leader alleged.
However, the RSF perceives Egypt as close to the Sudanese army and its chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the country has joined efforts by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia to mediate the conflict. Especially since the country ascended the presidency of the African Peace and Security Council.
It should be recalled that earlier this year, Cairo hosted talks between rival political factions.
The over 18 months war in Sudan, has forced almost 10 million people from their homes.
