Rwanda/Mozambique : militaryvreview progress in Cabo Delgado

The military Chiefs of Rwanda and Mozambique have discussed how to further strategize to continue to ensure peace and stability in the Cabo Delgado province. They were speaking during a meeting in Pemba on Friday.

The Chief of the Mozambique ‘s Armed forces, Admiral Joaquim Mangrasse has recently held a high level meeting with the commander of the Rwanda security Force joint taskforce, Maj Gen Emmy Ruvusha in Pemba, Cabo Delgado province.

According to a statement the meeting which took place on Friday September 27, sought to evaluate the progress made so far in restoring peace and stability in the region plagued by terrorism.

In the course of discussions, Amiral applauded the efforts of the joint military operations since Rwanda’s forces deployment in July 2021. He also encouraged the collaboration between both forces in bringing back those that had been displaced back to their homes.

Through collaboration, they reviewed they have made progress in dismantling terrorist strong holds, and suggested new strategies to further secure the region, the statement added. It is worthy of note that the ongoing collaboration dates back to July 2021 and in the past years, the force has played a crucial role in pushing back insurgents, hence securing the region and granting access to humanitarian aid.

However, the joint force has allowed over 250, 000 displaced residents to return home, and revived economic activities in districts initially affected by terrorism.
