Leaders at the ongoing Riyadh summit have called for global support to nullify Israel’s membership at the United Nations.The call was made on Monday through a resolution that was published pertaining to the crisis in the middle East.It is worth mentioning that this call comes after Palestinian President, Abbas urged the United security council to impose sanctions on Israel should it fail to respect any ceasefire agreement.
The Riyadh-held Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit on Monday issued a draft resolution on the ongoing Israeli wars on Gaza and Lebanon, calling for massive global support to freeze the Israeli membership at the United Nations.
The resolution also supported Egypt’s efforts to reach a national unity government between the Palestinian factions and support the Egyptian-Qatari mediation to reach a ceasefire agreement to the crisis.
The resolution read « while we affirm the centrality of the Palestinian cause..as the Palestinian cause is like all just causes of peoples struggling to get rid of occupation and obtain their rights. »
« While we reaffirm the full sovereignty of the State of Palestine over occupied East Al-Quds, the eternal capital of Palestine, and reject any Israeli decisions or measures aimed at Judaizing it and consolidating its colonial occupation of the city, considering such decisions and measures null, void and illegitimate under international law and relevant United Nations’ resolutions » It stated.
The leaders reaffirmed their absolute support for the Lebanese Republic, its security, stability, sovereignty and the safety of its citizens,
On the sidelines of the summit, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also urged the United Nations Security Council to impose sanctions on Israel and end the ongoing occupation.
Speaking at the Arab-Islamic Summit, Abbas emphasized the urgent need to halt Israeli aggression, ensure humanitarian aid reaches Gaza, and reject any plans to separate Gaza from the West Bank. He further called for Israel’s suspension from the UN if it fails to cease its attacks on the Palestinian people.
