Colonel Onambele Louis , Brigade Commander of the 21st Motorised Infantry Military Battalion, has made the appeal recently in a two day operation, carried out in some villages in Mbonge sub division, to convince the youths to drop their weapons.
It is for these reason that, the Brigade Commander, is calling on the youths of Meme division to put hands on deck for the return of peace, so that, the reconstruction process can effectively begin.
Meanwhile, ex-separatist fighter, Clovis Naseri, who succeeded in dropping his weapons by heeding to the call of the Head of State, His Excellency Paul Biya, served as a facilitator to the initiative taken by the campus military. Speaking to the villagers, Clovis Naseri regretted the demise of youths in the conflict zone and called those in the bushes to lay down their weapons and join the DDR Centres in order to be trained and reintegrated into the society.
Many individuals in villages along the Mbonge road network were ferried to the Kumba Central Police Station, for the sensitization campaign after the military raided their villages. Many people have saluted this new approach by the Cameroon military and hope it would yield positive results in the nearest future.
