President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria has made a history visit to Mauritania on Monday December 09.
The Strategic visit first of its kind since 37 years of diplomatic trips by leaderships to Mauritania will see him attending an international conference on Tuesday December 10.
On Monday December 09, Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune began a historic visit to Mauritania.
Marking the first visit by an Algerian President to Mauritania in nearly 37 years, the leadership in Nouakchott as well participates in an international conference drawing African leaders under the theme « Educate and Skill Africa for the 21st Century” on Tuesday.
It’s worth noting that The last such visit was in 1987 by President Chadli Bendjedid to the Mauritanian city of Nouadhibou to inaugurate an oil refinery, a project assisted by Algeria, during the tenure of Mauritanian President Maaouya Ould Sid’Ahmed Taya.
Presidents Tebboune and El Ghazouani of Mauritania in February 22 launched the first land crossing connecting the two countries.
The two Presidents also launched work on a road linking the Mauritanian city of Zouerat to Tindouf in southwestern Algeria, showcasing the longstanding relations between both countries.
According to Algerian embassy in Moscow, Algeria is one of Mauritania’s most important economic partners, as the value of Algerian exports to Mauritania records a stated rise over the past three years, exceeding 200 percent.
