Burkina Faso’s transitional leader Ibrahim Traore has fired the Country’s interim Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachim Kyelem de Tambela and dissolved the governement.
This was revealved in a decree issued on Friday by the office of the transitional head.
In a decree issued by the office of the transitional leader of Burkina Faso Ibrahim Traore on Friday December 7, it revealed that the interim Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachim Kyelem de Tambela has been dismissed from office.
The decree which as well highlighted the dissolution of the governemnet, did not provide reasons for the dismissal of Tambela who was appointed interim premier in September 2022 following the coming to power of Traore.
It added that Members of the dissolved government will continue their duties until a new cabinet is formed.
It’s worth noting that Tambela had served at the head of three successive governments, surviving each reshuffle.
Assuming command in 2022,Traore pledged commitment to do better than his predecessors.
Burkina has been fighting Islamist insurgents, some with links to al Qaeda and Islamic State, since they spread into its territory from neighbouring Mali almost a decade ago.
Recently, Mali’s leader Assimi Goita as well sacked civilian Prime Minister Choguel Kokalla Maiga.
Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger formed the Alliance of Sahel States in September 2023 and announced the creation of a joint military force to counter security challenges posed in their countries by terror groups.
