The United People for Social Renovation (PURS) party, led by Serge Espoir Matomba, has announced its intention to participate in the highly anticipated 2025 presidential elections in Cameroon. During a press dinner held on June 27, 2024, Matomba unveiled the party’s decision to enter the race, setting the stage for an exciting political contest as the nation gears up for the « decisive » polls in 2025.
The political landscape in Cameroon is abuzz with excitement as the potential voters in Cameroon register to take part in the highly anticpted pivotal elections in 2025. United People for Social Renovation (PURS) party, under the leadership of Serge Espoir Matomba, has thrown its hat into the ring for the upcoming 2025 presidential elections. The announcement was made during a press dinner organized by Matomba on June 27, 2024, where he declared the party’s intent to participate in the « decisive » polls scheduled for 2025.
Declaring that the time time for change is now, Matomba, a prominent figure in Cameroonian politics, revealed that his PURS party aims to bring about social, and political renewal in the Cameroon through their participation in the electoral process. The party’s vision is focused on inclusive social issues, economic transformation, governance and progressive policies. The June 27 revelation by serge Espoir Matomba did not however unveil the front runners of the Purs party. According to him, the candidates to contest the top job will be revealed to the public in February 2025.
It should be noted that the decision by PURS to contest the 2025 presidential elections has added a new dimension to the political landscape in Cameroon, with supporters eagerly awaiting the unveiling of the party’s candidates. To recall, the PURS party actively particapated in the 2018 presidential election in Cameroon. Serge Espoir Matomba underlined during the press dinner that the direct involvment in the 2018 elections provided a larger scope for the party to better understand the problems faced by Caneroon. This, according to him underpined the party’s preamble of Social and economic development.
The press dinner saw the attendance of high ranking politicians in Africa like Charles Ble Goude from cote d’ivoire among others. Political pundits and other prominent politicians from Guinea conakry, Chad, Guinea Bissau and Russia also marked present.
