As projected at the start of the year, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism says the nation is on track and has made significant strides in improving the number of tourists in the country.Speaking at the international Tourism exhibition in London on Friday, he said an increase of 5% is expected by the end of the year.
Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy on Friday said the number of inbound tourists to Egypt is expected to reach 15.3 million by the end of this year, an increase of 5% over last year.
The Minister’s comments were made during his visit to the British capital, London, where he went to participate in the 43rd edition of the International Tourism Exhibition (WTM London 2024).
He held meetings with the Director General of the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce and a number of representatives of the Chamber, to discuss ways of joint cooperation to attract more tourism investments to Egypt and promote the Egyptian tourist destination more widely.
The meetings addressed the tourism investment opportunities available in the North African country, especially in the hotel sector, as well as the incentives provided by the Egyptian state to attract more investments.
Also, the possibility of organizing a webinar between the members of the Chamber and the Ministry and a number of investors with representatives of the private tourism sector in Egypt from officials of tourism companies and hotel facilities to discuss and enhance cooperation to attract more investments in the tourism sector as projected at the start of the year.
