Ethiopia is making crucial steps towards building inclusive digital economy and enhancing government services through the implementation of Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy says the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh.
Speaking recently at the official opening of an exhibition and workshop on Ethiopia’s digital transformation journey at the Science Museum, Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh revealved that through the implementation of Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy, Addis Ababa has reached a critical stage to build inclusive digital economy and improve government services as he pointed out the country’s efforts in technological enhancements.
The Deputy Minister stated that the Digital Ethiopia Strategy since its initiation, has laid a solid foundation for economic growth and digital transformation.
He stressed that the government’s expansion of critical infrastructure is crutial in fostering a digital economy that ensures equitable access for all Ethiopians.
Underscoring the critical foundational activities that have been carried out to build a robust digital economy, the government official noted the remarkable growth of digital financial services, payments, and electronic commerce during the strategy’s implementation as he recognised the private sector’s proactive role in expanding data centers and introducing new digital services.
The deputy premiere further cited the digital national identity card, implemented since 2014 Ethiopian fiscal year, as one of the most important steps as key digital infrastructures identified in the Digital Ethiopia Strategy
