Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos, Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh and Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf on held constructive talks on bolstering relations, according to Timothewos in an interview.
In a move to bolster regional stability, Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos revealved in an interview with Djiboutian Radio and Television, that he held constructive and fruitful discussions on Sunday with Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh and Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf during his working visit to Djibouti.
The discussions were founded on the outcomes of the 17th Ethio-Djibouti Joint Ministerial Commission, which was centered on strengthening bilateral ties and collaborative efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
During his working visit to Djibouti, the Minister met with President Guelleh and other senior officials.
The Foreign Minister noted that the visit aimed to foster dialogue on these issues, highlighting the strong and unique collaborative relationship between Ethiopia and Djibouti.
The strategic meeting covered cooperation on bilateral and regional political and security issues with particular topics on trade, port usage, and current regional security concerns.
It’s worth noting that Ethiopia and Djibouti share a long history of friendship, particularly in rail, port, and infrastructure development, with formal diplomatic relations established in 1984.
