The international day of the rural women is celebrated today undet the theme « Rural women,cultivating good food for all »
The theme aims to eradicate discrimination faced by women in rural areas. It recognises the huge role that rural mothers, daughters and grandmothers play in producing food and building agricultural and rural development worldwide. Women and girls in rural area lack equal access to productivr resourced and assets, public services such as; education, healthcare and infrastructure, including portable water and sanitation. However, providing these women with equal opportunities can increase agriculture production from 2.5% to 4%. It can also refuduce the number of people with malnourishment from 12-17%.
