Foreign Ministers of the Group of seven(G7) on Monday November 25 met in the city of Fiuggi, Italy. Progress on reaching a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon was top on the leaders’ first day of discussion.
On the first day of the Group seven(G7) foreign Ministers conference in the Italian city of Fiuggi, some 70 kilometres south-east Rome, leaders placed top^on the discussion table progress on brokering a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
One of the sessions included Foreign Ministers from Saudi Arabia, Egyot, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar as well as the secretary general of the Arab League.
It’s worth noting that the meeting on Monday November 25, surfaces against the backdrop of renewed claims that a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hezbollah could be close.
Hosting the G7 meeting, Italy’s Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani expressed optimism stating « We are maybe close to a cease fire in Lebanon, let’s touch wood and let’s hope it’s true, and there is no reverse gear at the last moment, »
« A little bit more complicated in Gaza but we all want to work to reach this goal. »
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed that Cairo would host a minister-level Conferecing come Monday to mobilise international aid for Gaza.
Speaking to Israeli Army Radio on Monday, Israel’s ambassador to the US, Mike Herzog, said a deal between Israel and Hezbollah could be reached « within days. »
On the second day,Ministers are also expected to discuss ongoing crises in Haiti and Sudan, plus the political situation in Venezuela and well as the Ukraine conflict.
