The governments of Rwanda and Zimbabwe have applauded the successful implementation of bilateral agreements during the mid-term review session of the Zimbabwe-Rwanda Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation.
In a two-day meeting in Harare Zimbabwe, delegates from Rwanda and Zimbabwe reviewed the progress of 30 Memoranda of Understanding and agreements signed since 2020. The agreements covered various sectors including security, trade, agriculture, and education exchange. In 2022, some over 154 Zimbabwean teachers arrived in Rwanda as part of the agreement.
Rwanda’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, James Musoni, expressed satisfaction with the achievements, noting the importance of translating the agreements into actions benefiting the people. Noteworthy outcomes included the exchange of educational personnel and expertise, defense and security sector capacity building, and joint projects in energy.
For his part, Zimbabwe’s Chief Director for Political Affairs, Pearson Chigiji, commended the commitment shown in implementing the agreements and stressed the significance of monitoring and evaluating progress.
Both countries look forward to further collaboration, with the next Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation slated for next year 2025 in the East African state of Rwanda.
