As Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger significantly used the 2024 to guide a new course of sovereignty, Dr. Adama Diabaté, an adviser to the transitional leader of Mali and a political analyst says the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) is moving forward, reclaiming its sovereignty and independence.
He noted that the formation of the AES is a significant shift in African history.
He said the leadership of Mali, Assimi Goita has played a pivotal role in the creation of the AES highlighting his military background and strategic vision.
In terms of Economic sovereignty, Diabaté said “This bank will finance critical infrastructure projects, like telecommunications and transportation, to increase trade within the AES. Greater economic integration is essential for creating a strong common currency and finally moving away from the CFA franc,”
He louded the cooperation between AES and Russia noting that it has been a fruitful one especially WITH Moscow’s efforts in providing energy solutions for the three west African countries.
He further called for accelerated decision making within the AES to counter external pressures.
