In a historic move, Uganda and the Central African Republic are ready to boost cooperation in the transport sector, as per President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Friday
Lauding the product of their cooperation, President Archange Touadera expressed his nation’s commitment to driving regional integration.
Towards renewed cooperation Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and Faustin Archange Touadéra, the President of the Central African Republic (CAR), discussed ameliorating the transport infrastructure between both countries.
Both leaders conversed during Touadéra’s visit on the sidelines of Uganda’s 62 years of independence.
According to President Yoweri Museveni, The CAR has the potential to become a valuable trading partner for the East African Community (EAC).
He announced a joint agreement with the CAR as part of efforts to encourage the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan to build roads connecting the CAR to Uganda.
In line with this agreement, the Uganda Airlines has been tasked to explore the possibility of establishing flights to the CAR to further strengthen the connection between the two countries.
For his part, Touadéra lauded Uganda’s development, calling it an inspiration for his country. It is worthy of note that Uganda’s strategic location in East Africa, bordering South Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, drives its efforts to improve connectivity and foster trade with regional actors. As outlined by the AfCFTA, the goal is to create a common market and achieve greater regional integration
