The leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has equally extended his condolences to the Iranian nation over the martyrdom of president Raisi and his companions in a helicopter crash, adding that the nation has lost a sincere and valuable servant. In a message on Monday, the leader announced five days of national mourning.
As condolence messages multiply, the late president’s remains alongside the other officials on board have been transported to the city of Tabriz. As per the country’s constitution, Iran’s first vice president, Mohammed Mokhber will serve as head of state for the next 50 days until a new presidential election is held by a special council. According to a broadcast by Press TV, Mokhber said during an emergency meeting that the government will function without disruptions until the new elections.
