As efforts intensify, Kenyan president, William Samoei Ruto announced on Friday, that 600 police officers are completing their pre-employment training to leave for Haiti in November.
President Ruto was speaking during a joint press conference at State House, Nairobi with visiting Haitian prime minister Garry Conille, adding that the new batch will be part of the Multinational Security Support ( MSS) mission.

Ruto used the opportunity to reiterate Kenya’s commitment to the mission in the troubled Caribbean nation. Simultaneously, Garry Conille who arrived on Thursday, October 10 applauded the initiative.
As of now, just Kenya and Jamaica have deployed officers to Haiti with Kenya sending the highest number of officers. Other countries like the Bahamas, Antigua, Barbuda, Italy, Spain, Mongolia, Senegal, Belize, Suriname, Guatemala and Peru have pledge to send their officers.
As per an official statement, Conille’s visit will end on Sunday and he is expected to hold a series of meetings with willing African countries to discuss the socio-security crisis and opportunities for the country.
However, this visit to Africa comes barely three weeks after Ruto visited the Caribbean nation and less than 48 hours after Kenya was elected alongside others to head the UN Humanitarian Council .
