Rwanda is set to help Guinea-Conakry modernise and digitise its public procurement system, accoridng to a post on X dated November 24 by Rwanda’s embassy in Guinea. The initiative was signalled in an agreement signed between both parties recently.
In an agreement signed recently between Rwanda and Guinea Conakry, Kigali is said to help modernise and digitise Conakry’s public procurement system. This was revealed in a post on X platform on November 24 by Rwanda’s embassy in Guinea.
Patricie Uwase, the Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Initiative(RCI)established by the government of Rwanda in 2018 to promote and share innovative developemnt initiatives through South-South and Triangular Cooperation, stated that the aggreement signed on November 20 was to formalise the project for Guinea’s online public procurement.
The progress made within the framework of the E-procurement project was as well highlighted in a meeting with Guinea’s Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah which seeked to take stock of the flagship initiative at digitising public procurement in Guinea, according to Uwase.
The Government of Guinea reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency and efficiency in the management of public procurement while deepening trust between stakeholders.
It’s worth noting that in 2018, the World Bank indicted that Rwanda was the first African Country to implement an electronic governmnet procurement system, also known as e-GP system nationally.
