According to the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Corporate services at Ghana’s electoral commission, Dr. Boss man, Special Voting is set to take place on December 2, ahead of the elections on December 7. As announced on Monday, those involved are: journalists, security personnel, election officials, and other essential service providers to take part in this exercise.
A special voting exercise is set to hold in designated voting centers across Ghana for early voters on Dec. 2, stated Dr. Bossman Asare, deputy commissioner in Charge of Corporate Services at the Electoral Commission (EC) on Monday.
Dr. Asare says 328 centers have been designated across the West African country for early voters to participate and exercise their franchise, stressing that each center will not have more than 750 eligible voters to ensure the exercise is conducted smoothly.
Towards this exercise, the EC official urged those whose names are on the special voters’ roll to go out on the day to cast their ballot as they will not be allowed to vote in the main elections billed for December 7. He assured voters the country’s electoral management body has put in place the necessary measures and logistics to ensure the election is conducted in a free and fair manner, as earlier on re-echoed by outgoing President Nana Dankwa Akufo Addo.
Special voting usually is an arrangement put in place by the EC to allow persons, including security services, media personnel, and EC officials, who will be performing special duties on Election Day to vote earlier than the main Election Day.
On December 7, Ghanaians will vote in a presidential and parliamentary election to elect a president and 276 parliamentarians.
