Burkina Faso’s military government has appointed Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo as prime minister of the transition. His appointment comes less than two days after the transition dismissed Apollinaire Joachim Kyelem de Tambela, and dissolved his government on Friday, a decree said on Saturday.
The new premier of the west African country was communication minister and spokesman of the previous government.
As of now there is no reason that was given for the dismissal of Tambela, who was appointed interim prime minister after the military leader Ibrahim Traore took over power in September 2022.
One of a string of military coups in West Africa’s unstable Sahel region in recent years with a spiralling insurgency plaguing most countries in the region.
Pending the nomination of a new government, members of the dissolved government will continue in their roles until a new cabinet is named, according to the decree.
