A high level decision-making meeting of the signatory parties to the agreement for peace and reconciliation in Mali resulting from the Algiers process was officially launched on Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Radisson Collection hotel in Bamako.
Placed under the chairmanship of Doctor Choguel Kokalla Maiga, Prime Minister of the Transitional Government, this meeting will take place over 5 days of exchanges on certain aspects of the implementation of the said agreement.
During this meeting, the signatory Malian parties, assisted by their international partners, in particular the United Nations (MINUSMA) and Algeria, will discuss political and institutional issues, including DDR, disarmament, demobilization and reintegration, which are not necessarily linked to a renewal of the constitution.
The various parties have made no secret of their desire to move as quickly as possible, towards a realistic implementation of the peace and reconciliation agreement signed since 2015.
Thus in their respective speeches, the government through the Prime Minister and the Minister in charge of reconciliation, whose department is the initiator of the meeting and the representatives of the armed groups, strongly expressed their wish to agree, at the outcome of this decision meeting allowing a more realistic implementation of the peace agreement and the reconciliation resulting from the Algiers process so that together, all Malians can face other challenges.
The same wish was expressed by Algeria, leader of the mediation and the Secretary General of the United Nations in Mali, head of Minusma, while ensuring that their support will not be lacking.
