In a recent interview with Xinhua, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi outlined China’s commitment to Africa’s development, praising it as a « reliable partner. » His comments come amid the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) taking place in Beijing.
DR Congo President Felix Tshisekedi has stated that China has demonstrated its reliability and dedication over nearly seven decades of partnership with African nations. These sentiments echoed those of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who, during the summit opening on Thursday, called for an elevation of China-Africa relations to form an « all-weather community with a shared future for the new era. »
Xi also highlighted the potential for bilateral relations to transcend into strategic alliances, strengthening ties with all African countries that maintain diplomatic relations with China. He asserted that the China-Africa partnership has reached unprecedented heights due to the continuous efforts from both parties.
