Leaders of Rwanda and Egypt have recently held discussions on the sidelines of the Jordan conference. The Presidents evoked the conflict in the Gaza strip and a two-step solution amidst other issues. It was an opportunity to address bilateral relations between both nations.
Rwanda’s President, Paul KAGAME and Egypt’s Abdel Fattah al Sisi recently met on the sidelines of International Conference on the Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza, which is held in Jordan.
According to the Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, Counselor Dr. Ahmed Fahmy, President El-Sisi and Rwanda’s President lauded the outstanding level of the two countries’ bilateral relations across an array of areas. He added that this demonstrates their shared interest to further advance and solidify their strategic cooperation, notably in areas of development.
Both leaders reviewed developments in the Palestinian issue as well as Africa’s positions in this regard. These positions shall contribute to advancing international efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East region based on the two-state solution, enhance intensive endeavors to reach a ceasefire and an exchange of hostages and detainees. It will equally ensure the flow of humanitarian aid and relief into the sector to end the humanitarian catastrophe endured by the people of Gaza over the past months.
The two presidents seized the opportunity to discuss strengthening economic, trade, security and military cooperation as well as enhancing consultations and exchanges of view between the two sides, within the framework of the African Union and as part of efforts to bolster a joint African action.
As both Presidents parted, President El-Sisi expressed gratitude to the President of Rwanda for attending the conference. It should be recalled that other African countries like South Africa that have been in support of the establishment of the Palestinian State.
