On Monday, the Chairperson of the electoral commission of Ghana, Jean Mensa announced the former president John Dramani MAHAMA Victor of the December 7 election. He comes back 8 years to power after ruling the west African country.
As earlier anticipated, Ghana’s electoral commission has declared former president and main opposition leader John Dramani Mahama winner of Saturday’s presidential election with 56.55% of the vote, according to provisional results on Monday.
Mahama’s main rival, vice president and ruling-party presidential candidate Mahamudu Bawumia, on Sunday conceded defeat in both presidential and legislative elections to ease tensions.
According to the electoral commission, it had counted votes from 267 out of the West African country’s 276 constituencies with voter turnout at 60.9%.
Speaking to hundreds of jubilant supporters at his campaign grounds after results were announced, Mahama said it was a second opportunity.
Mahama, is making a historic comeback after serving as Ghana’s president from 2012 to 2016 that is almost 8 years out of office.
