Ethiopia is one of Russia’s key partners in Africa says speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko.
She noted on Tuesday that the two countries are cooperating on the platform of the inter-parliamentary Union.

While noting that Addis Ababa is one of Russia’s key partners in Africa, she recalled that the Ethiopian delegation participated in the 10th anniversary events of the BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg last year in a bid to strengthen the role of parliaments in multilateralism for a fair global development and security.
« I recalled being deeply impressed by the brilliant statement by Agegnehu Teshagar, the speaker of HoF. It became evident to me that the Ethiopian-Rusdian inter-parliamentary dialogue is a discussion between like-minded people arriving for a more perfect world order. » She underlined.
She further pinpointed that 2025 marks the 127th anniversary of established diplomatic relations between the two countries noting that they have built a rich history of cooperation based on respect, trust, and equal partnership.
Matvienko stressed that the trade and investment ties between the two nations are as well promising.
Automotive, chemical, electrical,food industries, transport, information and telecommunications technologies,agriculture and energy are the sectors Russian companies are currently engaging in Ethiopia.
