In a recent update with the war in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed a call by US President-elect Donald Trump for an immediate ceasefire and peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
Following Saturday’s meeting between Emmanuel Macron of France, Trump and Zelensky in Paris, US President-elect on his Truth Social platform said, “there should be an immediate ceasefire and negotiations should begin” to settle the Ukraine conflict. Ukraine “would like to make a deal and stop the madness.” he stated.
Ukraine’s Zelensky contradicted him in a post published on X on Sunday saying that the conflict “cannot simply end with a piece of paper and a few signatures.” He added that “A ceasefire without guarantees can be reignited at any moment… »
Trump who has repeatedly claimed to put an end to the Ukraine conflict within a day of returning to the White House, also condemned the outgoing US administration for spending too much on arming Kiev.
However, the world is patiently waiting for the administration of Donald Trump, who is set to take office in January 20 and his foreign policy to put his objectives into realisation.
In all these controversies, Moscow has repeatedly said it considers a freeze of the conflict unacceptable, insisting that any settlement is only possible if Ukraine withdraws its forces from Russian territory.
