Africans should look at the wins of some nations, look at its past and be inspired to fight colonialism on the continent, stated the acting president of the Pan-African Parliament, Ashebir Gayo. He was speaking during a meeting in Donesk on December 15, 2024.
According to the acting president of the Pan-African Parliament, Ethiopian Senator and the head of the Pan-African Parliament delegation to Russia, Ashebir Gayo, the policies put in place do inspire African people in their fight against colonialism.
He made the remarks during a meeting with the Donetsk People’s Republic head on Sunday, December 15 highlighting that African countries appreciate and respect Russian President Vladimir Putin as a symbol of independence and a source of strength in their fight against colonialism.
The key African politician also affirmed that African solidarity with Russia is not based on its strength but on the fact that Russia is actively fighting on the world stage for the sovereign right of African countries to manage their resources.
This comes a few days after Burkina Faso’s Président, Captain Ibrahim Traoré underscored the nation would combat imperialist views threatening to bring down the nation.
Aside from commemorating the heroes who fought against the Nazis and Ukrainian nationalists, the delegation equally sought to assess the situation and explore opportunities for cooperation, including humanitarian aid and economic ties, according to the DPR Senator Alexander Voloshin.
The Pan-African Parliament, a legislative body of the African Union, provides a platform for African citizens to participate in continental discussions and decision-making, especially conversations that will foster the growth of the African continent.
